Where Classroom Lessons Meet Real-World Applications

On November 18, 2024, IEA had the pleasure of facilitating a Chainsaw Safety Training, hosted by Shakopee Public Schools. The training was led by Jim Olive from Chainsaw Safety Specialists and brought together participants eager to improve their skills and knowledge of chainsaw safety.

The day began with 1.5 hours of classroom instruction focusing on the safe use of chainsaws, proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and advanced techniques like the plunge cutting method—a safer and more controlled alternative to the traditional back cut.

After the classroom portion, attendees moved outdoors to practice what they’d learned. Shakopee Public Schools graciously provided trees on their property for the hands-on session, offering participants the opportunity to apply their new skills in a real-world environment.

The session concluded with a lunch and networking opportunity, fostering connections among safety professionals and participants.
